It’s Labor Day Weekend! Are you excited for the long weekend ahead? Or are you mourning the unofficial death of summer that comes with it? We say enjoy it while you can and get out with this weekend’s best bets we picked for you. Hope you have a fantastic holiday weekend.

This Labor Day Weekend, Sept. 2-5, Rancho Bernardo and beyond have some fun activities planned. Stay close to home with some charity shopping, outdoor movies and great live music. Venture out a little farther and you’ll stay busy with a grape stomp, end of summer concerts and more.

BEST BETS CLOSE TO HOME

  • When/where: , 16769 Bernardo Center Dr. Ste. K7, San Diego, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday.
  • Why go: Browse through collector sports cards and more. If you like something you see, buy it and feel good knowing that a portion of your purchase is going to the Wounded Warriors Foundation.
  • Price: Prices vary for different items, but just remember your money is giving back to men who give so much to you.

  • When/where: Bernardo Winery, 13330 Paseo Del Verano Norte, San Diego, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Friday.
  • Why go: Pick up fresh, local food for some family cooking and grilling on Monday.
  • Price: Free

 

  • When/where: , 13094 Civic Center Dr., Poway, 7:30-9 p.m. Saturday.
  • Why go: Take the family and your lawn chairs or blankets to the community park for a movie under the stars. Laugh your way through Disney’s Tangled, a twist on the classic “Rapunzel” story.
  • Price: Free.

 

  • When/where: , 14134 Midland Rd. # A, Poway, 9 a.m.-noon Saturday.
  • Why go: Jam out with some other musicians from the Poway Folk Circle to bluegrass, old time and folk near the Craft Fair this Saturday.
  • Price: Free.

 

BEST BETS, A LITTLE FARTHER OUT

  • When/where: Menghini Winery, 1150 Julian Orchards Dr., Julian, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday.
  • Why go: It’s the annual Julian Grape Stomp, where you can sink your toes into some grapes and stomp away. Bring the whole family for food, crafts, games, music and wine-tasting.
  • Price: $5-$10.

 

  • When/where: Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd., Del Mar, following the race Friday and Sunday.
  • Why go: It’s the last two concerts of the summer series. Catch Fitz and the Tantrums on Friday and swoon over Ben Harper on Sunday after the horse races.
  • Price: The concert is free if you paid race admission, otherwise the cost is $20.

 

  • When/where: San Diego Natural History Museum, 1788 El Prado, San Diego, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday.
  • Why go: Explore all things insects at this Insect Mania at the Natural History Museum. Kids will learn about bugs, both alive and preserved, and even get to make a creepy-crawly craft to take home.
  • Price: Free with museum admission ($11-$17) or membership.
