Two San Diegans Split a $2 Million Mega Millions Prize

Their ticket was one of two purchased locally for the Dec. 17 draw that matched the numbers 8, 14, 17, 20 and 39 but missed the Mega number.

Two San Diego women stepped forward to claim their winnings for matching everything but the Mega number in last month's near- record Mega Millions draw, the state lottery announced today.

Jennifer Carney and Kathryn Rosensweet will split more than $2.6 million.

Their ticket was one of two purchased locally for the Dec. 17 draw that matched the numbers 8, 14, 17, 20 and 39 but missed the Mega number of 7. They bought the winner at Fuller Liquor and Deli, at 3896 Rosecrans St. in San Diego.

The other was purchased at Square Bottle Liquor, at 21 Naples St. in Chula Vista. The holder of that ticket has not stepped forward.

"I'm paying off my house," Carney said. "I hope to continue life as normal, just a little more comfortable." Rosensweet said she planned to buy new carpeting.

The $648 million jackpot was split by a Northern California man who purchased his ticket in San Jose, and a Georgia resident.
