The volunteer group is working with Miramar Marines

For the fifth year, the Rancho Bernardo Sunrise Rotary is collecting Toys for Tots as part of its service to the community.

"If the poor economy is hitting us hard, it's hitting others even worse," rotarian Sue Herndon said, according to a news release.

The volunteer group meets at 7 a.m. Tuesdays at the Country Club of Rancho Bernardo. In five years of participating in Toys for Tots, working with Marines stationed in Miramar, the group typically brings in $3,000 to $4,000 of toys and cash gifts, according to the release.
