Representing 31,000-plus students?
Robert O'Keefe has it under control.
The 22-year-old is associated student body president at San Diego State University. But his biggest accomplishment is being selected as a Ruck Scholar for Sigma Phi Epsilon—an award given to the organization's top students.
He said he's inspired every day by his "Aztec family."
"We have a network of over 300,000 students, faculty, staff, administration, alumni and community members—all leading their communities in one way or another," he said. "My involvement in student government has given me an opportunity to meet several of these Aztecs. They are proud of their university, and do all they can to make this university one of the best in the country."
Advice for young people:
"Be a 'Yes Man.' Every day we are presented with opportunities and we have to make decisions. One of two things usually happens—we either say yes or we say no. I've found that more times than not, saying yes is the way to go. Coupled with good judgment and diligence, this recipe has led me to some lucky successes."
