At just 22, Jemalyn Chavez is making her mark.
Chavez is the internship supervisor for the public relations department of megachurch Rock Church. She's also the recipient of the Quest for the Best Award and the Vice Presidential Student Service Award at San Diego State University.
She said she hopes to start a public relations agency because she knows the "power of public perception."
"The world is becoming smaller on a daily basis because of media, and any brand that does not build a sense of community or altruism cannot succeed," said Chavez, who is inspired by her mother. "I am a strong advocate for education and believe that professionals should consistently strive to be ethically and professionally sound."
Advice for young leaders:
"Leadership is not something you're born with—it is an accumulation of your natural gifts, life experiences and the outstanding mentorship of those around you. In order to lead, you must first learn how to put others before yourself, and serve."
