Batter Up! Cupcakes Go Irish

A Guinness-chocolate cake will be topped with Bailey's Irish Cream cheese frosting, in true Irish fashion.

St. Paddy's Day isn't just for beer drinkers—it's now for beer eaters!

Batter Up! Cupcakes is celebrating the Irish holiday with a sweet treat, something co-owner Paul Stiritz said they've been doing for the past three years.

The specialty cupcake is made with a chocolate Guinness cake and a Bailey's Irish Cream Cheese frosting.

"They're popular," Stiritz told Patch. "We've done them for events and for The Barrel Room (next to the cupcake shop)."

Stiritz said the cupcakes will be availble only the weekend of St. Patrick's Day, March 15-17. Pricing for the Irish treat are the same as the shop's regular cupcakes:

  • $3.25 per cupcake
  • $1.75 per mini cupcake

Batter Up! Cupcakes is taking orders in advance for those who want to indulge their Irish tastebuds. You can reach the cupcakery at 858-676-2253 or visit at 16769 Bernardo Center Dr.

Regarding Patch's response to this comment: A 'typo' is when someone hits the wrong key on theRead More keyboard, like typing "Democrut" or "Demacrat." Calling a Democrat a Republican is a MISTAKE and party affiliation is very easy to check check these days. Maybe this is just a "blog," I'm not sure. But if it's a "news site", and the people writing stories are purporting to be "journalists" or "reporters" could easily do better and should do so. Let's not minimize a factual error in a "news" story as a "typo."
