BAE Systems To Donate 670 Bikes to Military Families

A special ceremony at the Rancho Bernardo offices on Dec. 4 will highlight the donation.

BAE Systems announced this week that a special ceremony at their Rancho Bernardo offices will highlight a bicycle donation to military families.

Employees of BAE Systems in San Diego have teamed with the United Service Organizations (USO) to donate 670 new bicycles and safety helmets on Dec. 4 at their San Diego offices located at 10920 Technology Place.

The company said the USO San Diego will distribute the bikes to family members of the Navy, Marines and Coast Guard in the San Diego area throughout the holiday season. Some of the bikes will also be distributed to local families through the Wounded Warrior Project.

"Our employees work closely with the military every day, and many of them have also served our country," said Jordan Becker, Vice President and General Manager of BAE Systems GEOINT-ISR business in a press release. "We hope these bikes brighten the holidays for families who have made tremendous sacrifices for all of us."

BAE Systems employees in Liberty Station and Rancho Bernardo have been raising money for the Annual USO Bike Drive throughout the year via direct payroll deductions, personal contributions and fundraising events, according to a press release from the company. Huffy(R) provided discounts on the bicycles and tricycles, and Bell(R) offered the helmets at a reduced cost for the effort.
