Ed Brown Senior Center Town Hall Meeting

A very important meeting in our community will be taking place THURSDAY, OCTOBER 3, 6 pm, at the Ed Brown Senior Center,18402 West Bernardo Drive, located at the Community Park off of West Bernardo Drive. It is a town hall meeting pertaining to the Ed Brown Senior Center having to close its doors due to financial issues. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
The Center has been struggling since 2011 to keep the doors open in an effort to provide much-needed services for our community. Now the future of the center is at stake. The signature fundraiser and membership outreach efforts have not been successful. The Center will close by the end of October without your help.   What people may not realize is that the Center offers and array of activities from valuable presentations to bingo and everything in-between.  The Center also offers unique, inter-generational activities - matching adults with kids. Not all our kids have grandparents in the area and not all grandparents have an opportunity to see their grandchildren. Offering classes which match the young and not so young is a wonderful way of opening the doors to communication, sharing knowledge and experiences, learning how to deal with other ages, and more.
The Center is encouraging the community at large to attend the meeting and help keep this very important center going. As the saying goes, 'it takes a village to raise a child'. It takes a community to reach out and help organizations stay alive and functioning - especially when it impacts so may lives in the community.
The meeting will be on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 3, 6 pm, Ed Brown Senior Center, 18402 West Bernardo Drive, in the RB Community Park.
